The cosmological constant problem and its sequester

We provide an update on vacuum energy sequestering (VES), a novel approach to the cosmological constant problem. We will review the mechanism for cancellation of vacuum energy loops yielding a technically natural value for the cosmological constant for the low energy effective field theory describing standard model matter coupled to gravity. We will provide an etude, comparing our proposal with other related works that have recently appeared in the literature. We will also comment on a new model independent analysis of self tuning or self adjustment, orthogonal to Weinberg’s famous work, and clarify where VES fit into this picture through the power of decapitation.
